BOOK:

THE CREATIVE ACT by Rick Rubin

A BOOK CLUB ON TELEGRAM

  • If you were looking for accountability as well as a creative and supportive community to share your lived experience with this book, this is for you.

The book club is hosted on a Telegram channel. It’s complimentary and open to all.

  • This will work for you no matter where you are in the world, as long as you have a Telegram account. I like Telegram because your phone number is not shared with everyone. We might do some Zoom meetings, TBC, depending on the group.

  • On this channel, everyone can be initiating a conversation.

  • Everyone can express their voice.

  • Everyone can be a guide.

  • Everyone can share the tools that they feel inspiring in this process called The Creative Act.

  • On this channel, we will share extracts from what we are reading, writing about it, our reflections, etc.

  • It’s an open invitation to share your thoughts somewhere safe while you are reading the book. We create a support network, share our creations, and spark collaborative creations. It’s for human connections. Something that AI can’t take away from us!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

The book The Creative Act. A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. You can get it in audio, paperback, or as an ebook.

The book club is:

  • a time and space for those interested in exploring creativity and the creative process

  • an opportunity for you to discuss insights on creativity, as well as share your own experiences and perspectives on the creative process with other women.

  • The discussions will also explore the impact of creativity on various aspects of life, such as personal power, purpose, and community building.

We are meeting online via a Telegram channel:

Here is the link to join

As we are reading the book at our own pace from our own corner of the world, we will incorporate creative and transformative exercises and activities to enhance the exploration of the book's 78 themes.

Overall, the book club provides a space for you to connect, learn, and grow through your shared interest in creativity, prosperity, and personal power.

MEDITATION:

Demagnetize the negative thoughtforms, create new habits and a new attitude

A MEDITATION CLUB

MEDITATION FOR HEALING ADDICTION

Notes:

This exercise is also called the Addiction Meditation and Medical Meditation for Habituation or Kundalini Meditation to Break Bad Habits and Addictions.

A full write-up of the meditation is available here with original comments and the technology behind it.

Tune In: Bring your palms together at your heart center, and tune in:

TUNE IN MANTRA: ONG NAMO GURU DEV NAMO (3x)

MANTRA FOR PROTECTION: AAD GURAY NAMEH, JUGAAD GURAY NAMEH, SAT GURAY NAMEH, SIRI GURU DAYVAY NAMEH (3x)

Posture:

Sit in easy pose, spine is straight, chin slightly in. With both hands, curl your fingers into the pads of your hands (the fingertips are resting on top of the pads at the base of each finger). Leave your thumbs extended, and place them on your temples (find the niche where the thumbs just fit).

Breath and mantra:

Breath normally in and out through the nose. Mentally repeat the sounds Saa - Taa - Naa - Maa, on each sound, press your back molars together. Lock the back molars together, and keep the lips closed. Keeping the teeth pressed together throughout, alternately squeeze the molars tightly and then release the pressure.

You should feel something move underneath your thumbs. You silently vibrate the sounds Saa - Taa - Naa - Maa at the brow point.

Time:

Set a timer for 5 minutes. Keep going for 5 to 7 minutes at first. With practice, the time can be increased to 11 minutes, 20 minutes, and ultimately 31 minutes. Keep going for at least 40 days.

Tune out: Sat Nam

It’s a 5-minute meditation to demagnetize negative thoughtforms and create new habits and a new attitude — to be practiced every day for 40 days. You will practice in your own time, whenever you can, and here are 2 ways to keep yourself accountable:

“In your life, first you create habits, then habits create you.

And today is a day when you can create a habit of meditation.

Then meditation will make you intuitive,

and intuition will solve your problems.”

Yogi Bhajan
